Frequently asked questions

Have a question we did not answer? Email info@spcabc.org or call 979-285-2340.

Where are you located?

We are at 141 Canna Lane, Lake Jackson, TX 77566. Call us at 979-285-2340 for hours and directions.

Are you a no-kill shelter?

Yes. We are an open-admission no-kill shelter. Euthanasia is reserved only for animals with terminal medical conditions or behavioral issues that pose a serious safety risk.

What does the adoption fee cover?

Adoption fees help cover spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, heartworm or FeLV/FIV testing, parasite prevention, and 30 days of pet insurance. Fees vary by species and age.

Can I bring my dog to meet an adoptable dog?

Yes, and we encourage it. Bring all human and canine members of your household to the meet-and-greet. We have a play yard set up for introductions.

Do you accept owner surrenders?

We are an open-admission shelter and try to help every animal in our service area. Please call ahead so we can plan space and intake paperwork.

How do I report a lost or found pet?

Visit our Lost a Pet page to file a report and use Petco Love Lost to photo-match your pet. Call us at 979-285-2340 with any details.

Do you have low-cost spay/neuter?

Yes. Our in-house clinic offers affordable spay and neuter services for community pets. Call to schedule and ask about current pricing.

How can I support the shelter without adopting?

Donate online, mail a check, drop off supplies from our wishlist, shop or donate at the Re-tail Thrift Store, volunteer in person or virtually, or foster an animal. Every form of support matters.

Are you tax-exempt?

Yes. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All donations are tax-deductible. Contact us for our EIN or to request a receipt.

Where do my donations go?

About 78% of every dollar goes directly to animal programs - medical care, food, shelter, and spay/neuter. The rest covers operations and a small fundraising and administrative budget.
