Help reuniting lost pets

Most lost pets are reunited within 48 hours when their humans act fast. Here's exactly what to do.

I lost a pet

  1. Search Petco Love Lost. Free photo matching across thousands of shelters and finders. Upload your pet's photo and check daily.
  2. Call us. If your pet may have been brought to our shelter, call 979-285-2340 and provide detailed descriptions and any unique markings.
  3. Post on social media. Local lost pet groups on Facebook and Nextdoor reach a wide audience fast.
  4. Notify your microchip company. Update your contact info and ask them to broadcast a lost report.
  5. Check daily. Visit our shelter in person every 2-3 days during the search. Strays are sometimes brought in without microchips.

I found a pet

  1. Check for a tag. Many pets carry phone numbers right on their collar.
  2. Scan for a microchip. Any vet office or shelter (including us) can scan for free.
  3. Post the find. Upload to Petco Love Lost so their human can find you.
  4. Call us. We can take the pet in, scan for a chip, and post a found report.
  5. Keep them safe. If you can, keep the pet indoors and isolated from your pets until they are checked.

Prevention tip

The single most important thing you can do is microchip your pet and keep the registration information up to date. Visit our spay/neuter clinic to ask about microchipping at the same visit.
